"Save the Barn"
Buckland Historical Society's big project right now is the renovation of the Wilder Homestead Barn. This is a 1798 English style barn that was built shortly after the homestead house. Few of these, original barns are left standing, making this project of great importance. It is a rare cultural resource that reflects the farming and grain threshing practices of the era. This barn currently holds historical relics, an educational area dedicated to weaving, and all the architectural intrigue you would expect from a building built in the 18th century. We also see other potential uses that can't be done in its current state, such |
as more classes, programs, and workshops in all things colonial. We are raising funds to provide a required local match for a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to Save The Wilder Homestead Barn and we need your help! Watch our video and learn more.
