Buckland Historical Society runs two historical buildings in Buckland that host open houses on the second and fourth Sunday of July and August.  Or contact us to make an appointment to visit.

​20 Upper Street, corner of Charlemont Rd., Buckland- 3 floors of Buckland artifacts, displays of information, housed in the old schoolhouse.
THE WILDER HOMESTEAD
129 Ashfield Road, Route 112, Buckland- 
A furnished 1775 saltbox house with five fireplaces, a 1779 English barn with antique barn loom, and a shoemaker shop

Throughout the warmer months we host several different annual events.  Please check back for dates.
  • Pie Social and Historical Program- Friday, June 9th, 2023 at 7 pm.  Program to be determined.  In 2022 Michael Hoberman, Professor of English Literature at Fitchburg State University, took us through materials from the BHS collection to tell a larger story about how literary fashions and movements of the nineteenth and early twentieth century affected the lives of past generations of Bucklanders.
  • Wilder Homestead Colonial Sampler- Sunday of Indigenous Peoples' Day, October 9th, 2022 from 2-5. Open-hearth cooking, oxen, chair caning, weaving demonstrations, spinning, quilting, folk painting, Morris dancers, cross stitching, music of the 1700's, cider pressing, and more!
  • A Summer Day on the Buckland Common- Saturday, July 15th, 2023 from 10-3 on the Buckland Common.  A fun-filled family day with crafters, games, engines, socialization and blueberry buckle.  Donations accepted during the event.
  • Hilltown History Trail- August 2023 date TBD.  Visit participating Historical Societies along the 112 corridor and beyond, all open on the same day. Get your passport!
  • Open Houses at both the Museum and Wilder Homestead every 2nd and 4th Sunday of July and August, 2-4, open to the public.  2023's open houses are July  19th and 23rd, and August 13th and 27th.

Also look for other events such as contra dances, our variety show, silent auction, and more!!  Please know that current Covid precautions exist and may postpone or cancel events.

Membership couldn't be more rewarding!  What's better than the preservation of our history?  As a member you will receive our yearly newsletter, reminders of upcoming events, periodic updates on what we are working on, and a discount at the door, for some events.   There are four different membership levels:
Annual Single Membership- $10 every July
Annual Family Membership- $20 every July
Lifetime Single Membership-$300 for life
Lifetime Family Membership- $500 for life
